The functions of the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) include conducting federal parliamentary elections, by-elections and referendums, maintaining the electoral roll and providing electoral information and education programs. The AEC conducts elections for industrial organisations. The AEC administers the conduct of redistribution of electoral boundaries, as well as providing party registration and funding and disclosure services to political parties and candidates. The AEC provides international electoral assistance and conducts and promotes research into electoral matters.
